Accuses Obama supporters of spamming congressional offices.
We've already seen the White House use celebrities to push gun control, now a Texas congressman accuses Obama backers of using fake Twitter accounts to push his agenda.
Republican Steve Stockman says he and 15 other congressional members received numerous computer-generated tweets with the #WeDemandAVote hashtag, and believes a former Obama staffer is behind them.
"The president in a desperate move has resorted to fake Twittering like a teenage girl, he has people creating fake accounts and spamming congressional offices," Stockman tells KTRH News.
Stockman is now calling on the president to come clean.
"I wonder how long the president has been using these kind of techniques and did it spill over into his campaign and did it also involve voter suppression," he says.
He wants the president to denounce the messages.
"He needs to be exposed for what he is which is a fraud, and we need to stop his agenda," says Stockman.
The White House so far has not responded.
A review of Stockman’s Twitter account by staffers and conservative bloggers shows at least 16 identical tweets.
Stockman staffers said 10 were computer-generated and six came from real people, though only one lives in Stockman’s southeast Texas district. Two had only one follower, former Obama digital strategist Brad Schenck.
