Galleria shut down after exceeding fire code limit

Houston Police called in special squads to evacuate the Galleria Mall, after large crowds forced them to close early last night.

Police working alongside mall security say they got involved because some celebrities and athletes in town for the NBA All-Star game were also inside the mall, and crowds kept them from getting out.  Officials were concerrned about safety amid the big crowds, and started clearing the mall after 8pm.

Officials said everything was under control and no arrests were made as a result of the mall's closing.  The Galleria will reopened as scheduled Sunday morning.
