Houston lawmaker introduces a bill to expand legalized gaming in the state
Houston State Senator Rodney Ellis authored a bill to bring casino gambling to the state. Supporters say it would create a much-needed revenue stream, but previous efforts to expand gaming have not met with much success.

Senator Ellis estimates the state is losing more than two-billion dollars from gamblers who go across state lines to Oklahoma, New Mexico and Louisiana.
Governor Perry is on record against expanded gaming, but Ellis believes the money could be used to fund scholarships and critical infrastructure projects.
