Includes active-shooter training

Teachers taking part in emergency training Wednesday and Thursday here in Houston, hope to take the lessons learned back to their school districts.

The Harris County Department of Education's Center for Safe and Secure Schools is holding their seminar, Intruderology in cooperation with SafePlans.  The training seminars teach educators how to asses danger and what to do when intruders enter their school.

Laurie Shah with Center for Safe and Secure Schools says teachers learn how to barricade classroom doors, how to deal with threats in different locations like a hallway or bathroom, and use the run, hide, fight system.  These techniques go further than regular lockdown procedures.

Educators from multiple area school districts will take the training back to their schools to disseminate throughout their schools.
