Named AP Defensive Player of the Year
A strong year on the defensive side of the ball for J.J. Watt has earned him Player of the Year honors.
Watt was named Defensive Player of the Year by the Associated Press for his stellar performance this seasonr for the Houston Texans. Watt finished the season with a league-leading 20.5 sacks, and 16 passes defensed. The most of any lineman ever in the NFL.
Watt was one of two players voted to the AP All Pro Team unanimously, the other was Minnesota running-back Adrian Peterson.
Watt was also named NFL Defensive Player of the Month in September and December, the only Texan to win the award twice in the same season.
