Fans Will Experience Stadium Upgrades
The Houston Texans have released their ticket prices for the 2013 season, and the average price is going up by 9.8%. The move comes as the team is coming off its best regular season in franchise history at 12-4, back-to-back division titles, and playoff victories in the past two seasons. But beyond the entertainment on the field, fans at Reliant Stadium in 2013 will also be treated to brand new giant high-definition video boards. Texans team President Jamey Rootes recently told KTRH the boards will be the largest of any stadium in the world. "They are gonna be 25% larger than the previous largest video board installation in a sports stadium, which is in Dallas," said Rootes. "But they'll be in the end zone so they'll be up and away for the fans, but it will be a spectacular presentation."
The Texans ranked 15th in the NFL in ticket prices last season, and they expect this year's prices will again rank them in the middle third of the league. The average price of a ticket this season is $86.39, compared to $78.66 last season. "This pricing structure will allow us to remain competitive on the field and deliver an even more compelling fan experience," said John Schriever, Texans vice president of ticketing and event services. Schriever added that it was important to keep Texans games "accessible" to all fans. "Reliant Stadium has developed a reputation as one of the most difficult stadiums for visiting teams in the NFL, and Texans fans are a major reason," he said.
The Texans' 2013 home schedule includes division rivals Tennessee, Jacksonville and Indianapolis, along with visits by New England, Denver, Seattle, St. Louis and Oakland. The Texans have sold out all 112 games at Reliant Stadium in their 11-year franchise history.
