Survey shows gap is closing.
When it comes to sports, a recent Harris Poll of 2,176 adults showed more than one-third of sports fans prefer pro football over the 18% who like baseball instead. But the gap has narrowed slightly from a year ago when football topped baseball by a 36-13% margin.
Meanwhile, college football (11%) held it's popularity while auto racing (8%) gains ground as well. Pro basketball (7%), hockey (5%) and all other sports remain far behind.
“I really only watch NFL and college football,” said one KTRH listener. “The last time I watched basketball was when the Mavericks won it.”
Another listener had this to say, “Men's soccer is a flop contest. Between them and the NBA I don't know who is better at it. But if you locked me in a room and give me one choice, it's all about football.”
“Hockey,” said one woman. “I've got four sons who play it. But I love football. And unless they break the bat, that's the only time I like baseball.”
