Radio and TV star wants to build ‘Independence, USA’

Glenn Beck has always had big ideas and big dreams. His latest involves more than what you hear on the radio and watch on television.

“I want to show you what I want to leave future generations. In the American Dream labs we are working on Independence, USA,” Beck told his audience this week.

His idea is to build and entire city along with a theme park. The project, Beck says, is based on the original ideas of Walt Disney. But Beck says if you are looking for big, corporate stores in his city, you will be out of luck.

“There’s not going to be a GAP here or an Ann Taylor. If you want an Ann Taylor, go somewhere else,” Beck explained.

Syracuse University Professor Bob Thompson thinks Beck may be on to something, especially by using the ideas from the late Disney.

“Glenn Beck is using some of the rhetoric of Walt Disney, but his ambitions seem to be much, much further,” Thompson explained.

Thompson says it will not be easy for Beck to get this project completed.

“It would require partnerships and political clout and all kinds of things that would just be absolutely astronomical,” Thompson told KTRH.

The estimated cost for this project is said to be about two billion dollars.
