Message is freedom and power rests with the people

The Texas Nationalist Movement is hoping for a big turnout on the north steps of the state capitol today -- opening day for the 83rd Texas Legislature.

The Movement doesn't use the 'S' word in its news release.

"Nobody in their right mind would argue with their message at this point, which is freedom and all power rests with the people."

But political insider Chris Begala says the group will lose its credibility if it calls for Texas to secede.

"Anybody who truly believes that Texas should actually secede I think has had a little bit too much eggnog or is still hung over from the New Year."

The group, which didn't return KTRH's calls for comment, says it tried to get approval for an official rally -- but was denied.
