Galveston County Sheriff's deputies searching for Santa Fe woman
Deputies were called to the 6000 block of Casey Road in unincorporated Galveston County south of Santa Fe about 4:49 PM yesterday to talk with family members of Ashley Collard, 21. Collard reportedly left her residence shortly prior to deputies' responding to the scene. Family members told deputies Collard was apparently angry when she decided to walk away from her home.
A door-to-door search started yesterday of a large area surrounding her residence yielded no leads, although some reported sightings were found to be those of women that looked similar to Collard. Investigators were able to "ping" Collard's cell phone, but that location hasn't helped them find her.
Family and detectives investigating her disappearance are particularly concerned for her well-being as Collard has seizure disorders and several diagnosed mental health issues, reducing her ability to think clearly. Her mental capacity is described as that of an 8-year-old child, and she has not had any of her necessary medications since yesterday.
Collard is described as a white female, 5 feet tall, 140 to 145 pounds, with light brown to blonde hair and blue eyes. She was wearing a black hooded coat with a fur surrounding the edge of the hood, a dark blue "hoodie" sweatshirt, black Capri-style pants, and zebra print "flip flop" sandal-style shoes. She normally wears glasses, but did not take them when she left yesterday. Collard has a chipped left front tooth, and had her fingernails painted a dark blue. She was carrying a dark brown western-style purse and took her black and white Shih Tzu puppy with her. She did not take any other clothing or food when she left her home.
Anyone with information on Collard's whereabouts is urged to contact the Galveston County Sheriff's Office at (866) 248-8477 or (409) 766-2322 (select option "2") immediately.
