Cases on the rise

Dogs are being stolen out of cars, yards, off sidewalks and even out of shelters at an alarming rate, according to the American Kennel Club. The same is also being reported in Harris County.

Monica Schmidt works at the Houston Humane society and says, “It’s a constant problem all year long. “

“It only takes a minute for a theft to occur,” American Kennel Club spokeswoman Lisa Peterson says.

Pure breed dogs can be stolen from homes, backyards, shelters, and even pet stores. Its recommended that you don’t leave your dog in the yard for extended periods. You can also get your pet micro chipped for $25.
