Deputy suffered concussion and bite
A man is dead and a Harris County deputy is injured after a scuffle and shooting in west Harris County this afternoon.
Officials say it was 12:30p.m. Sunday afternoon when Emergency Medical Services received a call reporting an "irrational man." When paramedics arrived at that home in the 20400 block of Shiloh Mist Lane, the man, 33YO Kemal Yazar of Seabrook, became violent. EMS then requested Harris County Deputies to the scene.
Deputy Brady Pullen and other deputies arrived and tried to get the man under control. The man's wife and three children were home at the time. Yazar's wife took the children to a neighbor's once things intensified.
Yazar was Tazed by deputies in attempt to subdue him, but that didn't work. A scuffle between Deputy Pullen and Yazar ensued. That's when HCSO Deputies fired their weapons at Yazar, striking him. Deputy Pullen suffered a concussion, a bite wound, cuts and bruises.
Deputy Pullen was transported by ground to a Memorial Hermann Hospital and released late Sunday. Yazar was also taken to the hospital, where he died.
The shooting is still under investigation by HCSO Homicide Division, HCSO Internal Affairs Division and the HCSO DA's office.
