The 2013 legislature may see a more unified effort
For years Texas casino supporters have tried to convince the governor and legislature to keep gambling money in Texas. Analysts say this could be the legislative session to get it done.
John Montford of lettexansdecide.com says just about everyone has had it with watching Texas money go to Oklahoma and Louisiana.
"Many experts say upwards of $2.5-billion a year is flowing out of Texas to gaming sites."
Austin political analyst Bill Miller says he sees unity that hasn't been there before.
"The gaming proponents appear to be united. There's historically been a division of labor there."
But Governor Rick Perry has repeatedly said he's opposed to expanding gaming in Texas.
