Christmas sales disappoint retailers
It doesn't appear to have been a very Merry Christmas for retailers nationwide. But Texas usually does a bit better than the nation.
The National Retail Federation had hoped for 4% growth over last Christmas.
"Nationally we're trending something a little less than 1%."
Ronnie Volkening of the Texas Retailers Association says they don't have numbers yet, but he's optimistic.
"Now in Texas we have historically done better than the nation as a whole. So, I'm rather expecting Texas sales to be a little bit stronger."
Volkening says lots more of us shop online now, but Houston malls were generally packed.
