Crackdown starts Friday
The Houston –Galveston Area Council joined with law enforcement agents from 13 counties this morning to announce a new initiative with MADD.
As we head into the holiday season more deputies will be added to the roadways.
A $295,000 grant has been provided by the Selective Traffic Enforcement Program. The money will pay for fifty additional deputies for a total of one year.
Drivers in the Houston and Galveston area can expect more officers starting this Friday and continuing until New Years. The same will be done on Spring Break, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, and Labor Day.
Chief Keith Jemison with Missouri City police was also in attendance and says, "We hope you will be with your family enjoying the holiday just like I’d like to enjoy mine."
