New study claims they watch your social media postings
A new study claims burglars are more afraid of dogs than alarm systems and they monitor social media to see if you're not home.
Ken Shorter at Houston's KSHO Alarm Service says it's true burglars don't want the noise of a dog's bark, but don't kid yourself.
"A dog is great but you still have to back that up with modern technology, which is an alarm system."
Shorter says social media is a new wrinkle for the home security business.
"Nowadays with the Twitter and Facebook people put everything out there; not really thinking about the consequences of what they're saying."
Shorter says a typical home alarm system will cost around $500 and there'll be a monthly monitoring fee.
