Ben Milam Hotel will make room for new apartments
Developers are scheduled to implode the Ben Milam Hotel this afternoon, a building that served visitors to Houston since 1926.
The ten-story building at the corner of Texas and Crawford – right next to Minute Maid Park – is being demolished to make room for luxury apartments. Developers say the considered saving the old building, but structural elements will not permit that to happen.
The changes are part of the city’s effort to attract residents back into the city.
