Copper Thieves Target Mall

Caused thousands of dollars in damages

Men dressed as utility workers stole $1,000 worth of copper from a Houston-area strip mall in the 8000 block of Westheimer about 6:30 pm Friday evening.

Police say the men attached a chain to some metal pipes and used their truck to yank them from the wall then grabbed the copper wire.  An electrician repairing the mall said the thieves caused about $11,000 in damages.
