National impaired driving prevention month
There are currently 600 DWI courts across the United States. Harris County also uses sober courts to help alcohol or drug addicted individuals remain in treatment while under close supervision.
December is ‘National Impaired Driving Prevention’ month and county leaders want to warn drivers. Helen Harberts is the chief probation officer in Harris county and says, “Harris county is one of the deadliest places in the U.S when it comes to drunk driving.”
DWI numbers tend to get higher during the holidays so the Sheriffs office wants all drivers to know they’ll be out in full force.
