Unveiled in Houston neighborhood by Mayor
Mayor Annise Parker is trying to change the future of house development in Houston. This week a press conference was held to show off two new homes in the Independence Heights area.

While they look like most new homes the mayor thinks they will save energy, saying, “The homes will produce more energy than they use by running on natural gas and a power cell.”

One home is a modest, one story home with wood floors. The cost of it is two-hundred thousand dollars. The second house is a two story priced at two-hundred twenty-five thousand dollars.

Some neighbors expressed concern about the new developments. Mayor Parker says the idea is not to force neighbors out, but to bring up the property values of everyone.
The city of Houston teamed with ‘Houze homes’ for this project.
