School ordered to reverse expulsion
A Texas judge has said a school district's efforts to track one of its students electronically, violates the student's constitutional rights.
The San Antonio Northside Independent School District began a program this year to attach radio frequency identification chips (RFIDs) to student IDs. The district says they only use them to keep track of students while they are in school. Andrea Hernandez refused and was expelled.
Hernandez took her case to court and a judge issued a retraining order on the school, preventing the expulsion and prohibiting any retaliation by the school against Ms. Hernandez.
