Actor Larry Hagman dies at 81
He made America hate him, and kept viewers asking through the summer of 1980, “Who shot J.R.?” Actor Larry Hagman, perhaps best known for his role as J.R. Ewing on the television series “Dallas” died after suffering complications from cancer. He was 81.

He died in his hometown – Dallas – surrounded by family and friends.

Hagman first achieved fame in his role as Major Tony Nelson in the 1960’s sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie.”

He acted in a variety of other sitcoms before landing the role of the quintessential bad guy in the primetime drama that started in 1978. He reprised his character in the new edition of “Dallas” earlier this year.
