Online bids start at $21,000,000
With Hostess Brands now in limbo, a Twinkie craze has spread across America. Some online auctions have starting bids for a box of Twinkies at $50 or $100.
Others are asking $21,000,000.
"I think it ridiculous, its pure lunacy that someone would put a case of Twinkies up for that much money," says Texas Tech pop culture expert Rob Weiner. "They want to make a buck, and I understand that, but I'm not sure that this is really the end of the Twinkie, or the end of the Ding Dong."

Weiner says kudos to Hostess for such a successful marketing campaign through the years.
"If Little Debbie went belly up I don't think many people would care, or even Dolly Madison," he says. "But Hostess got in there, it's like McDonald's, it's just part of who we are."
