Aims to encourage and raise money

When 19-year-old Gary Eagleton went away to war, he had no idea that he would return with one leg. The Purple Heart Vietnam veteran from Houston is very proud of his service. He’s also proud that he learned to live with his disability.

Fast-forward nearly 37 years, and Eagleton is planning an event this Saturday in Houston to encourage and raise money.

At 4:00pm he’ll be rappelling down the Embassy Suites hotel downtown in an event called ‘ Over the Edge.’ He will have the help of a prosthetic leg, but his goal is to show other disabled persons that they can achieve anything.

When asked about the danger factor Eagleton said, “Well, there is always a danger. I’m in danger when I drive down the street. “

He has rapelled before and is looking forward to the event. Money raised will to Special Olympics.
