The Republican National Convention Convenes/Recesses today
Tropical Storm Isaac is putting a damper on the opening day of the Republican National Convention in Tampa. The event will officially be gaveled to order, then immediately recessed to allow delegates to find ways to ride out the storm.
Organizers of the convention have re-configured the schedule, condensing it into a three-day event. All the headline speakers will still appear - including Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz - who was originally slated to speak tonight.
