Says 3 Million Jobs Could Be Created
Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney is unveiling his new energy policy. Campaigning in New Mexico, Romney said he would set a goal for "North American energy independence by 2020." Romney's plan includes aggressive new domestic exploration for oil, natural gas and coal. The former Massachusetts governor also said states should have more control over energy exploration on federal lands.

Romney predicted his energy plan will help create three-million new jobs. At the White House, presidential spokesman Jay Carney scoffed at the Romney plan. He said GOP energy policies are being dictated by Big Oil. Carney argued that President Obama has a more diverse, "all of the above" energy policy.
