New Nike sneakers to cost an arm and leg
The new LeBron James shoes from Nike are going to cost $315 a pair. The price tag has some, like Quannel X of the New Black Panther Party in Houston, concerned.

“Many of our young people who are going back to school are going to be fighting, some will be stealing and I am afraid some will even be harmed for these sneakers,” X said.

X, who has also taken Michael Jordan to task for the cost of his Air Jordan brand, said James should know better than to allow his fans to be charged a large amount of money for shoes.

“I am truly discouraged and disappointed that he would allow his name to be attached to a product that costs $300.”
So is the price too high? Sports Business expert Rick Horrow says that's a tough question.
“Part of me says that this is too high. Another part says that this is an opportunity to generate significant income for his foundation to use for other things,” Horrow said. “It’s not just an easy answer.
So why the high price tag?
Horrow said, “There’s a very significant interest and demand for LeBron James’ brand.”
The news of the expensive shoes isn’t going over well with the shoe buying public. One James fan told KTRH he wouldn’t but the shoes.
“That’s ridiculous for sneakers. I would never spend that kind of money for sneakers.”
The sneakers are going to be released later this year. There are two versions of the shoe. The cheaper model, without the bells and whistles, will run for $180.
