Police Say He Tried To Meet A Teen Girl

An Illinois man who drove about 1,100 miles to Texas has been accused of trying to abduct a 14-year-old girl he met online.

The Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office says 49-year-old James Wean Jr. was being held Wednesday on a charge of attempted aggravated kidnapping. Wean was captured Tuesday night at a Houston-area gas station as part of an undercover operation.

No bond has been set for the Pearl City, Ill., man, who faces a court appearance Thursday.

The parents of a 14-year-old girl noticed a strange exchange on Facebook, took away her electronic devices and contacted the sheriff's office.

A detective this month began portraying the teen. Investigators say Wean appeared to be planning to take the girl away, possibly out of the country.
