Clemens Starts Saturday with Sugar Land Skeeters

Roger Clemens will come out of retirement and sign with the Sugar Land Skeeters.

According to the Skeeters, he will join the team at Constellation Field on Friday night and is expected to make his first start on Saturday at 7:05 pm.

“Roger came to work out for us today, and we were very impressed,” said Tal Smith, special advisor for the Sugar Land Skeeters.

“He had great command of all his pitches and we couldn’t be more excited about this signing.”

The former Major League Baseball pitcher played 24 seasons for the MLB and earned seven Cy Young Awards. Clemens was most recently acquitted on federal charges of lying to Congress about alleged steroid use.

Clemens joins the Atlantic League’s Sugar Land Skeeters pitching rotation that all ready features former major leaguers Scott Kazmir, Tim Redding and Jason Lane.

“Any time you can add a player of Roger’s caliber is extremely exciting,” said Skeeters President Matt O’Brien.
