Former Mistress of Bellaire Attorney to Plead Guilty
The woman behind the murder-for-hire case of the wife of a Bellaire lawyer is expected to plead guilty Friday.
Michelle Gaiser will enter the plea for trying to kill Jeffrey Stern’s wife in exchange for a 20-year prison sentence. Gaiser faces a solicitation of capital murder charge in three 2010 shootings apparently targeting Yvonne Stern.
On Tuesday the Harris County District Attorney's office agreed to dismiss charges against Jeffrey Stern, citing insufficient evidence.
Yvonne Stern will be in court Friday to give her victim statement. She is expected to challenge Gaiser's plea deal because prosecutors assured the lawyer's wife they would not offer Gaiser anything less than 40 years in prison.
Gaiser, 39, has admitted she hired several men who unsuccessfully tried to kill Yvonne Stern.
