Reacts to Colorado Shooting

Both President Obama and former Governor Mitt Romney have responded to the early morning attacks in an Aurora, Colorado movie theater Friday morning. Each of the presidential candidates issued statements and offering condolences to the victim’s family hours after a gunman killed at least 12 people.

Vice President Joe Biden reacted by clearing his schedule of public events and abruptly canceling his planned political trip to Houston hours before an event.

In a statement released by the White House, a spokesman for the vice president announced that the vice president would not fly to Houston to attend a scheduled 12:30 CDT p.m. fundraiser for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

President Barack Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney also curtailed their campaign schedules, and the Obama re-election campaign asked all television stations to stop airing all their attack ads targeting Romney.

"There are going to be other days for politics," Obama said in Florida. "This, I think, is a day for prayer and reflection."
