Police Investigating Strange Shooting
Police say a woman shot and killed a man who broke into her house overnight in north Houston, then discovered the criminal was her cousin.
Police say two suspects turned off the electricity at the home to get the residents to come outside, but only one person left the house. It happened around 12:30am in the 5900 block of Reid Street near Fulton.
That's when the suspects snuck inside with the intent to rob the home, but a homeowner was still inside.
According to investigators, the woman grabbed her gun and started shooting in the dark. She hit one of the men and then turned on the lights and saw her cousin, bleeding on the floor. Police say he tried to steal from his own relative.
The man was taken to Ben Taub General Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Police continue to search for the second suspect who remains on the loose.
