Officals: Soldier Dies From "Non-Combat-Related Incident"
A 35-year-old sailor from Houston has died in the Persian Gulf kingdom of Bahrain after what a Defense Department statement describes as a "non-combat-related incident."
Petty Officer 2nd Class Jorge Luis Velasquez died in the Bahraini capital of Manama. The Navy released no other details.
Velasquez was assigned to Commander, Task Force 56 in Bahrain, which performs maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the area for which the U.S. 5th Fleet is responsible.
