River Oaks Native and Millionaire John Goodman Sentenced to 16 Years.

River Oaks native and millionaire polo mogul John Goodman was sentenced to 16 years in prison for DUI manslaughter.

Goodman was convicted for the April 2010 fatal crash that killed 23-year-old Scott Wilson.

Goodman’s attorney has said he will appeal.

Prosecutors said Goodman was drunk when he crashed his Bentley into Wilson's car in West Palm Beach. The Hyundai was pushed into a canal. Goodman failed to call 9-1-1 immediately and walked away from the crash.Wilson later drowned.

Goodman has settled a civil suit with Wilson’s family for $46 million. Prior to that settlement, Goodman adopted his adult girlfriend, Heather Hutchins—ostensibly to protect a large trust fund from the family’s lawsuit.
