University of Texas System Chancellor Will Allow High Profile Boxing Match.

University of Texas System Chancellor Francisco Cigarroa says he will allow a high-profile boxing match to be held on the El Paso campus, reversing a 3-day-old ban that had upset city officials.

Cigarroa had canceled the June 16 fight between Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fight and Andy Lee at the Sun Bowl over security concerns. A law enforcement official told The Associated Press that a federal risk assessment had warned that leaders of warring Mexican drug cartels would attend.

Friday's reversal came after several days of pressure from local officials and state lawmakers. Cigarroa set several conditions. State, local and federal law enforcement must promise system officials they can handle any security measures.

A security plan must be approved in advance by system officials and no alcohol can be served.
