January 22nd, 1989. The San Francisco 49ers beat the Cincinnati Bengals 20-16 in Super Bowl 23 to win their third championship. The game is best remembered for the 49ers fourth quarter game winning drive. Trailing 16-13 with the ball at their own 8 yard line and only 3:10 remaining, Joe Montana led the 49ers down the field and won the game with a touchdown pass to John Taylor. Jerry rice was named the Super Bowl MVP after catching 11 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown.
