KTRH GardenLine Newsletter
Dec. 3, 2009 - Issue #143
Here's Randy's Weekly KTRH GardenLine Tip:
I'm a little reluctant about relaying to you this year's fruit tree sales schedule.
For some strange reason, almost every website for every county fruit tree sale (with the exception of the one for Harris County/Bear Creek) is devoid of information ... or they've not been updated since last year.
So, I have compiled only what I could find through some searches, phone calls and e-mails. I apologize that it's not as detailed as last year's, but the information just isn't as available as I'm putting this newsletter together. I'll probably issue an update by mid-December.
It also seems to me that some places aren't doing what they did last year. For example, last year we were able to pass along information about Brazoria County's fruit tree sale, but there is no information available on their website this year. Nor have I had a response from the messages I've left. So, it's possible they may not be having one in 2010.
With all that said, you can check some of the previous e-mail tips we've done on the subject (2009 | 2008 | 2007) and keep the Web links handy — hopefully they will be updated soon. Also, by glancing through previous years' tips, you can get a handle on how to plan your attack for the fruit tree sale season ahead.
Some things to keep in mind for 2010: They are all on Saturdays except for the one at The Arbor Gate, which is on a Sunday. Where there are websites available, it is a good idea to check them periodically for the varieties they might be providing this year. And the previous years' tip sheets above could be outdated — just because it was there last year, doesn't guarantee it will be there this year.
