Here's Randy's Weekly KTRH GardenLine Tip:

Happy New Year!
I Need Your Help in Early 2009

As we step into 2009, I have so many things I want to discuss with you in this, the first official email tip of the year. Alas, I don't know where to begin or whether this week's tip should be about a singular subject or possibly an overview of many. Weeds control, fruit tree sales, getting that vegetable garden started – which of these subjects should the new year truly begin with? Here's the link to the Fruit Tree Sales Schedule, anyway.

But that's not what I want this week's tip to be about. Thankfully, we have several weeks before anything gets to the point of no return. So, I would like to aim this first email tip of the year in what may seem like a selfish direction. However, in reality, it's all about helping out as many people as possible. I would like your help in introducing GardenLine, and my weekly email tips, to as many people as possible. With so many important money-saving-issues coming to the fray because of the economic downturn, I think it's critical to get more people listening to GardenLine and at the very least, subscribed to my free weekly email tips.

I'm ecstatic at the proposition that we could be talking to more people in our audience this spring because of that perceived need to "do-it-yourself" in more areas that will save you money. And I can help save everyone money in many areas related to GardenLine. But I would also like your help in getting the attention of those that need my help, but may not know about GardenLine yet. You, the GardenLine Faithful (soon to be called Lemmonheads; more on that in the weeks to come) can help us get the word out.

So, here's my first selfish request! Like an email chain, I would love it if you forwarded this email link to at least 10 friends, family or neighbors (local ones at that) and encourage them to sign up for my free weekly email tips. In fact, you don't have to send this whole email, just cut and paste the link below, encouraging them to subscribe as you have done before. But it should go to at least 10 other emails with your help. http://www.ktrh.com/cc-common/globalsignup.html

If your lawn is green or your landscape is in better shape than any of your neighbors, family or friends, tell them that GardenLine is one reason why they envy your landscape. A little peer pressure works wonders.

Secondarily, if your family, friends or neighbors has never listened to the program, but you know they could benefit from it, then forward them the link to the GardenLine webpage below so they can figure out the hours of the program themselves. Also let them know they don't have to get up that early every weekend (I wished I could say that for myself) to listen to the program live, as they too can benefit from the podcasts. http://www.ktrh.com/pages/gardenline2.html

The most satisfying emails and comments live on the radio that I ever get are not just the ones that say how much they love the program, but the ones that convey how much the program has truly helped them. GardenLine may have helped them to have the greenest lawn on the block, the most vibrant landscape, the best vegetable garden they've ever had etc. etc.

If you need some ammunition to sway the friends, family or neighbors that you will forward this email to, here's just a few of the ways GardenLine can help:

- Get you on our fertilization program, (or on your own, for that matter) so you don't need to pay ridiculous rates for someone else to spread fertilizer a few times a year.

- We cover your pest control concerns, for spreading products that are just as readily available to you, just under different names and formulas – that's especially where I can help.

- Growing vegetables to save money on the grocery bills this year. (for that matter, make you a better cook/chef too) But, we also want to make sure that you aren't actually spending 50 bucks on everything to grow three tomatoes this spring.

- Starting your own fruit trees, but understanding exactly which ones work for this region, so you're not throwing your money away.

- How you can get more green (environmentally speaking), and save money to boot.

- Finding the right companies to do work for you at better prices, whether it be landscapers, irrigators etc.

- Better tools and power equipment for the better prices – And the list goes on...

I want to help! Yes, I want you to have a great landscape, lawn and garden. Why? First, while no one wants to waste money on landscapers and products when and where you can do-it-yourself, doesn't an entire block of well-maintained lawns just look better and make you feel better? And if yours is the best on the block, then let me help you help your neighbors get to the point you're at. As a side note, a well-maintained landscape also increases property values. And in a tough real estate market, every little bit helps.

So, help me get the word out. If I truly have helped you, then I need your help to get more people listening to GardenLine and subscribed to my free weekly email tips. You can count on me all year long to continue helping you. Can I count on you right now?
