As you might expect, I get a lot of requests to speak to Garden Clubs all over the Houston area, and, quite naturally, there are other requests that come from groups such as Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs, not to mention every Aggie Mom's Club that I've ever come in contact with. I'll be honest, and tell you my two favorite speaking engagements of all time were the TRI-DELTAS of Houston and the BAY AREA GARDEN CLUBS. I'm not saying your group has to be as big or as funny as these two, but if you were at any of these two events, you'll know how much fun I do have when speaking to such groups. Frankly, I love speaking to groups and getting peppered with gardening questions from a live audience, sometimes more than the radio show itself. However, because there are so many requests and only so much of me to go around, I do have to limit the number that I do each year, and I do charge a speaker's fee (or honorarium) in most cases. I bring this up now, because I'm already getting booked for next spring, and with the holidays peering around the corner, those available dates related to holiday gatherings/holiday parties, they too are booking now as well. So, if you and/or your group have batted around the idea of getting me to speak, here's your invitation to get that request booked as soon as possible. In other words, don't wait until November to book me for a December speaking engagement. The beauty of having me come speak to any gathering is that I'm always giving stuff away. From jars of Nelson Plant Food to Ready-To-Spray Weed Killers, you name it and I'll pull from my prize closet and give things away to those that ask compelling questions, or that answer my trivia questions. It's also the best opportunity to get my book Gulf Coast Gardening with Randy Lemmon, at the cheapest price of the year, and I have the time to personalize the signing. Can you say "Perfect Christmas Gift?" As for the details on the speaker's fee and/or honorarium, just email me. We can then discuss the particulars and take a look at the calendar to see what's available in the coming months and year. Send me an email for more information on speaking to your group! Until next issue, here's to Great Gardening from the GardenLine, heard exclusively, 6-10 a.m. Saturdays and 7-10 a.m. Sundays, only on NewsRadio 740 KTRH. |
