Deep Root Watering/Feeding Of Trees

But what I forgot to mention this past weekend’s radio show, and what everyone should be thinking about, is that there’s never been a better time than right now to develop those holes. You see, after two Saturdays of torrential rains, the ground may never be any easier to work than right now.
So, whether you’re using an Auger Bit for a drill, or a Post Hole Digger for the bigger trees, or even just the Ross Root Feeder to develop the holes -- there’s no time like the present. As a reminder too, when I talk about using a Ross Root Feeder to develop the holes for deep root feeding purposes, I’m always talking about it as a tool solely for making the holes.
Don’t pay any attention to the instructions, and definitely don’t even come close to using the “fertilizer” they provide. When you hook a Ross Root Feeder up to the hose, all I want you to benefit from this is the concentrated jet of water, which is helpful in getting the holes developed deeper than normal.
If you were to use it per the instructions, you would have to get out there and move it every thirty minutes, and that ostensibly would take forever to get the amount of augured holes I would like to see achieved. Think about it for a second, and many people will admit they’re guilty of this too: They’ve injected the RRF in one spot, gone back in the house, and forgot to move it period. So, only one spot was deep root fed.
Again, it’s a tool to develop the holes per the instructions of the Deep Root Watering/Feeding tip sheet that you can access on line from the link earlier in this week’s tip. In summation, I’ve gone a long way to hammer home the point THAT THERE’S NEVER BEEN A BETTER TIME TO AUGER HOLES, thanks to the ample rains of Mother Nature the past two weekends.
