  • When I say GARDEN ART most people think simply in terms of gazing globes, stone frogs and pink flamingos - okay, maybe a gargoyle here or there as well. But garden art has come a long way in the past few years. And since Gulf Coast gardens, patios and backyards are now an extension of the house, it's no wonder that artistic types have spread their interest in to various forms of GARDEN ART.

Personally, I think we've come a long way when it comes to garden art, and this Saturday you can see just how far. This is your personal invitation to a garden art event like no other. It's the ART IN THE GARDEN PARTY at The Arborgate in Tomball. Click Here for their website.

There will be striking iron and steel sculptures from Charlie Strack, pastels that look like real garden photography from Jerri Glidder, sculptures by Andre Gandin, copper art by Randy Martin and every imaginable stained glass and copper garden stake imaginable. It is my hope that all the pictures in this email tip sheet give you a glimpse of how original this garden art truly is. In fact, every picture you see in this email tip was shot at The Arborgate, just two days ago.

If that's not enough, there will be a drawing to give away this stunning stone garden bench that has a retail value of $250. That's my 3-year-old son, perched on top. You do not need to be present to win, but you do have to enter some time between now and 1 pm (that's when we do the drawing) on Saturday May 7th. Plus, we will be giving away a container of Nelson's Color Star or Nitro Phos fertilizer just for the asking -- while supplies last.

And if all that isn't enough, there's a Vera Bradley Trunk Show, with 10% off all stock patterns and up to 50% off on retired pieces. Oh, and I completely forgot, we'll be broadcasting GardenLine live from The Arborgate this Saturday.

Finally, you will come to understand why I love the Arborgate, and if you come you will fall in love with it as well. It's the one-of-a-kind ART IN THE GARDEN PARTY exclusively at the Arborgate this Saturday. The live broadcast is from 8 to Noon, the doors open from 8 to 5, but the actual Artists and their wares will all be there from 10-4. The Arborgate is located 1.5 miles west of 249 on FM 2920 in Tomball (Actual address: 15635 FM 2920) If you need further directions check out the website above, or call 281-351-8851.

Until next issue, here's to Great Gardening from the GardenLine, heard exclusively weekend mornings from 8 to noon on Talkradio 950 KPRC.
