My Fertilization Schedule Works Better and Costs Less ![]() This week, though, I thought I would show you the results of my schedule versus that of a national lawn fertilization company used by one of my neighbors. These pictures were shot just over a week ago. The neighbor spends roughly $1,500 per year for a fertilization service, and I spend about $300. I'll let you be the judge of who is getting a better deal. All I have applied to my yard this year is an application of Nitro-Phos Sweet Green 11-0-4 in mid-February. I didn't even do a normal winterization last November. I used Sweet Green back then, too, as a test to see how effective it might be as a winterizer. Needless to say, I'm thoroughly impressed. If you've been using a lawn fertilization company, I'm telling you this to impress upon you how and why my fertilization schedule works better than any other program out there. And as for the savings, here's a previous tip sheet that breaks down the costs of my schedule versus a service.
Finally, if you don't believe how ineffective fertilization services are, check out this YouTube video (and THIS ONE actually shot in the Houston area). I think they'll confirm my thoughts. My neighbor could cut his costs by 80 percent and have a much greener lawn to boot.
(Win a Year's Worth of the Fertilization Schedule) So, how would you like to win the entire fertilization schedule's worth of Nitro-Phos products? Then, come see me 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the Waterside Estates Ace Hardware, South Mason Road at The Grand Parkway in Richmond. Nitro-Phos is sponsoring our visit, and they'll be giving one lucky listener everything needed for 12 full months: 1 bag of Nitro-Phos Imperial 15-5-10 2 bags of Nitro-Phos Super Turf 19-4-10 4 bags of Nitro-Phos Barricade (Pre-emergent herbicide) 1 bag of Nitro-Phos Fall Special (Winterizer) Just come by to register. We'll randomly pick a winner at 1 p.m. You don't even have to be present to win. Even if you don't win, you can purchase every one of those products at Waterside Estates Ace. So, if you haven't done the early green up 15-5-10, you have one more weekend to get it handled. If you already did your early green-up, get armed for spring and summer fertilizations with the 19-4-10. They'll also have plenty of the new Sweet Green 11-0-4, if you want to use that as a first step into organics or as a replacement for any of the fertilizers called for in the schedule. And that's not the only giveaway this Saturday. We'll have even more stuff from the Nitro-Phos warehouse, but you will have to EARN IT! Just listen to GardenLine 6-10 Saturday morning for fun ways to win, or at the very least bring me a printed copy of this tip sheet to score something free.
