I've got a little hodge-podgery in this week's e-mail blast.
First, a reminder how important brownpatch control is with the recent 60-80 temperature split.
When we have daytime highs in the 80s and nighttime lows in the 60s, coupled with an overuse of irrigation, there is a brownpatch train a-comin'. The best advice I can give you is to read everything we've written about brownpatch on
Sept. 3, 2009 and
Sept. 4, 2008.
BULB MART REMINDER
The 68th Annual Bulb & Plant Mart, brought to us by the
Garden Club of Houston, is Thurs.-Sat., Oct. 7-9, at the Westminster United Methodist Church, San Felipe at Bering. This is a must-go-to event for gardening enthusiasts, and especially for those interested in bulbs. It's actually so much more than bulbs these days, but it's still what they specialize in. This year, I'm doing a talk at 8:30 a.m. Friday, so bring your wagon and your questions to this awesome event. By the way, even if you miss the talk because it's early, I will hang out at the Q&A table for a couple of hours after.
LANGHAM CREEK ACE HARDWARE APPEARANCE SATURDAY

If you can't wait until Oct. 8 to get a little face time with me at the Bulb Mart, drop by
Langham Creek Ace Hardware this Saturday, right after the GardenLine broadcast. The store is on Barker-Cypress just north of F.M. 529. Once again we are visiting our Ace friends courtesy of our Nitro-Phos friends. And rest assured, we'll have every imaginable form of brownpatch control on hand for purchase. We should also have some samples of the organic control
Actinovate to give away. Plus, remember that Houston-area Ace Hardware stores have everything on my fertilization schedule. So, you could stock up on winterizers, pre-emergent herbicides and brownpatch controls all in one place.
Randy Lemmon's GardenLine is heard 6-10 a.m. Saturdays and
