I haven't done any GardenLine appearances in quite some time, but we'll have a great opportunity to talk one-on-one this Saturday. I will be visiting our friends at Woodlands Ace Hardware on Kuykendahl at Woodlands Parkway 11 a.m.-1 p.m. There are more details below, but I bring it up here first because often at such appearances, I get requests to speak to garden clubs, homeowners associations, Rotary Clubs, Aggie Moms Clubs and so on. And it won't be long before I get requests to speak at holiday functions, too.

My two favorite speaking engagements of all time were the Tri Deltas of Houston and the Bay Area Garden Club. Your group doesn't have to be as big as those, but if you were at those events, you know how much fun I have when speaking to such groups.

Frankly, I love getting peppered with gardening questions by a live audience, because it's sometimes even more fun than the radio show. However, because I get so many requests, and there's only so much of me to go around, I have to limit the number of events I do each year.

I bring this up now, because I'm already getting booked for next spring! And available dates for holiday gatherings and parties are booking now, too. So, if you or your group have considered lining me up to speak, you should get that booked as soon as possible. Don't wait until November to book me for a December engagement.

When I speak to any gathering, I always give stuff away ... from fertilizers to weed killers. Usually, those who ask questions get the goodies. In the past, you could also get signed copies of my book Gulf Coast Gardening with Randy Lemmon. That book is now virtually out of print, but I'm working on a new one and hope to have it at events by the end of October.

I do charge a speaker's fee or honorarium in most cases. Just e-mail me, and we can discuss that and what dates are available in the coming months.

In the meantime, I'll will be hanging out Saturday at the Woodlands Ace Hardware store. The visit is being sponsored in part by our friends at Nitro-Phos, which means I'll have plenty of their goodies to give away. Tune in to the GardenLine broadcast Saturday morning, too ... I'm sure we'll devise some fun game in which you can earn big bags of Nitro-Phos products.
