Here's Randy's Weekly KTRH GardenLine Tip:

Issue #165

Garden Weasel AG Crabgrass Control Really Works!

If a product works, it's worth every penny, right?

That's how I feel about the organic, grassy-weed killer Garden Weasel AG Crabgrass Control.

This stuff really does work, and it really is 100 percent organic. Not only will it take care of the grassy weeds it was designed for (like crabgrass, goosegrass and dallisgrass), but I and others have discovered it works on many other broadleaf weeds as well.

The problem with it for many people is "sticker shock" ... the rather lightweight bottle that only covers a few hundred square feet retails for $20-$25 a pop. Meanwhile, a synthetic weed killer like Green Light Wipe Out may cover 5,000 square feet and cost only around $15.

But the fact is, there is no other organic weed killer ... or synthetic weed killer, for that matter ... that will target grassy weeds without killing St. Augustine or Bermuda grass. And since it takes out other weeds as well, I have triple reason to believe it's worth every penny.

A summary of the triple benefits:
1. It's 100 percent organic.
2. It works on grassy weeds without killing existing grasses, unlike 20-percent vinegar solutions.
3. It will knock out a myriad of broadleaf weeds too.

And while you won't hear me making audacious claims that it will work on every weed imaginable, some people have had remarkable success. For example, here's an e-mail from Ross in Pearland:

Randy,
Garden Weasel Crabgrass Killer is great. We bought a house in Pearland, and the previous owner did nothing to the lawn. I wet the weeds with Turbo Spreader Sticker before applying the powder, and misted it again for best results. I have not found a weed it will not kill, and it works fast.

I left off Ross' last name on purpose, so we don't have to pay him any endorsement money:-) But he knows who he is.

Most independent garden centers around town carry the product, but it really earned its early reputation on the Internet. There are two sites you can visit to get more information and order if you don't mind having it sent by mail. They're gardenweasel.com and www.crabgrassalert.com.

Check out the Crabgrass Control 101 tip sheet we did last year for info on various grassy weeds and their controls.

Appearance 11 a.m.-1 p.m. this Saturday
At the SOLUTIONS STORE, F.M. 1960 near Perry Road

The final GardenLine appearance until the end of July is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. We have a number of events scheduled July 31 through November, but for the next seven weeks this is your last opportunity for me and other experts to "get a pair of eyes" on your weed, insect or disease problem.

We are visiting the Solutions store at 9423 F.M. 1960 West near Perry Road. Look for the sign that says "Pests-Pools-Pets."

If you have a problem with pests (any kind — insect to mammalian), pets or pools, this is the store for you. They carry professional-strength insect control products — the kind pest-control operators use. (You can save money by being your own pest-control expert.) They also carry flea and tick products that previously were available only to veterinarians. And I know how well their proven Three-Step Flea Elimination program works.

You can also get pool chemicals, get your pool water tested, or replace worn-out pool equipment.

Come see us, and take advantage of all the freebies we'll be giving away. Whether you bring along a copy of this e-mail tip, just show us the love, or shop a little at the Solutions store, you'll certainly walk away with a little gift or two. We have bags and bags of the new Scotts Songbird Selections bird food you've heard me talk about, plus a myriad of giveaways from our prize closet at KTRH. We're cleaning it out, and we might even find some Garden Weasel AG Crabgrass control in there that you could snap up for free!

Randy Lemmon's GardenLine is heard 6-10 a.m. Saturdays
and 7-10 a.m. Sundays, exclusively on NewsRadio 740 KTRH.
