Here's Randy's Weekly KTRH GardenLine Tip:
All Your Palms & Tropicals Freeze Questions
(were answered last weekend.)
GardenLine Appearance Schedule for Spring Starts This Saturday
Wow! What an education it was last Sunday, having Linda Gay and Grant Stephenson on GardenLine to talk about palms and tropicals in the continuing freeze-recovery saga. That's what I'm starting this week's e-mail tip with.
If you didn't get to listen Sunday, and to help me reduce the number of e-mail questions I'll probably receive on the topic over the next few months, check out the Sun., Feb. 7, GardenLine PODCASTS. You can listen anytime to refresh your memory on how to help palms and tropicals recover from the Blizzard of '09 and the Freak Freeze of '10.
Now for some quick hits and random thoughts for early February:
It's okay to prune the crapes.
It's time to prune the roses.
It's okay to treat for broadleaf weeds with cool-season herbicides.
It's time to start following the schedule for February applications.
It's time to start your veggie garden.
It's still time to prune the hardwood trees.
It's time to dead-head the winter color like pansies and snaps.
You can always call the show if you need more details or clarification on those items. And, if you need me to "get a pair of eyes" on a problem or want some personal consultation, we begin our GardenLine Spring Appearance Season this month. Here's where I'll be for the remainder of February:
Feb. 13 — 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Magnuson Ace Hardware
105 W. Edgewood (F.M 518 at F.M. 2351), Friendswood
Nitro-Phos Fertilizers are tied into this appearance, so I'll have lots of great goodies to give away.
Feb. 20 — 8 a.m.-noon
Casual FX Furniture
3648 Westchase (Just south of Richmond, inside Beltway 8)
It's a live broadcast for GardenLine Education Day, when you can visit with as many as 20 of our sponsors! It's also a great opportunity to get your "booty" into some amazing outdoor furniture that will last a lifetime. The live broadcast starts at 6 a.m., and the doors will open to the public at 8. I'll hang around for two hours after the broadcast to talk with you one-on-one.
Feb. 27 and 28
Cy-Fair Home & Garden Show
The Berry Center, 8877 Barker-Cypress
We will broadcast GardenLine from the show both days this year. Plus, I will be doing an interactive seminar following each broadcast.
Randy Lemmon's GardenLine is heard 6-10 a.m. Saturdays and
7-10 a.m. Sundays, exclusively on NewsRadio 740 KTRH.
