Over 1.4 million Houstonians garden for a hobby or pastime, and GardenLine is where they listen for advice and information on gardening and landscaping.
Every Saturday and Sunday morning from 6 to 10, GardenLine's Randy Lemmon answers listeners' questions on everything from aphids to zoysias. He's Houston's absolute expert on lawns and gardens, offering help to listeners both with and without "green thumbs."
Randy's a Texas Aggie who truly KNOWS plants and flowers. He explains them with ease and candor, and is as competent a "plant person" as there is. He studies, and he practices. He embraces "new methods" as well as the "old" ways of dealing with problems. Call for Randy's solution for your question ... 713-212-KTRH (5874).
It's been awhile since we've done any GardenLine appearances or live remote broadcasts, but that all changes on Saturday.
GardenLine will be live from The Woodlands Home & Garden Show at the Waterway Marriott & Convention Center on Lake Robbins Drive. Now, GardenLine is on the air starting at 6 a.m., but the doors to the show won't open until 9. Still, you can come by to see what we are doing as early as 8 o'clock, since we'll be broadcasting from the lobby, just outside the show's main entrance.
That's a little "insider information" since you're a blog reader. And let me give you a few other nuggets that should make it worth your while to come see me on Saturday. I'll actually be at the show as late a 2 p.m., so you'll have plenty of time to get a signed copy of my book, "1001 GardenLine Questions with Randy Lemmon," and have me answer gardening questions in person. By the way, this could be the last garden show that book will be available. The last printing is almost gone, and I'm planning on writing a new one. It's also rare to get a deal on it as good as we offer at garden shows. Copies are regularly $15, but we will sell them Saturday for $10 each if you buy two or more.
At 10:30 a.m., immediately after the live broadcast, we'll be holding a GardenLine seminar. I asked some die-hard Lemmonheads to call in on GardenLine last weekend and provide some "insider information" why attending our seminars is a good idea. "You get to talk with Randy one-on-one ... you can get things identified (get a pair of eyes on them) ... they give away some really cool stuff," they said.
If you've "liked us" on Facebook, you've already seen the arsenal of giveaways we are bringing to the event this weekend. I promise you, there is great insider information on our Facebook page on a daily basis.
Another caller last weekend also mentioned that my garden show seminars provide a great opportunity to visit one-on-one with many of the great advertising partners you hear me talk about on the radio. I'm sure there may be more, but as I write this, I know at least five GardenLine sponsors will be at this show ... Culligan of Houston, Green Pro, Shades of Texas, Nature's Way Resources, and Ace Hardware of The Woodlands.
But one of the best "insider" reasons to come to my seminar at The Woodlands on Saturday ... one that was not emailed or called in to last weekend's shows ... is that you'll get to hear me say stuff I'd never be allowed to say on the air. True! Now, don't misinterpret that ... I'm not talking about potty language or off-color humor. I'm talking about being able to mention the names of products or services or companies that I would steer you away from at all costs. I'm also able to answer honestly any questions I get. On the radio, I often have to walk a fine line from a legal standpoint, making sure not to say anything disparaging about a product, company or service. But, in a private setting, I'm free to express my personal opinions ... and I will!!
Finally, another great reason to come to The Woodlands Home & Garden Show is that parking is free. How aggravating is it when parking at a show costs more than admission to the event?
So, in conclusion, here's the complete list of "insider" reasons to come to the live broadcast of GardenLine Saturday from the Fall Woodlands Home & Garden Show at the Waterway Marriott:
