Welcome to my pet page! ANIMAL HOUSE is dedicated to speaking out for the thousands of dogs and cats, kittens and puppies, and other furry and feathered friends that need our helping hands. Along with finding GOOD "forever" homes for them, we also hope to provide news and information that will help end the suffering of thousands more animals who have been neglected, abused or abandoned. ANIMAL HOUSE also offers you resources to help keep your pet companion healthy and happy, and to help those animals who as of yet, have no family to call their own.
In the past 12 years, close to one million adoptable animals were killed in Houston area shelters. The ASPCA estimates as many as 10 million pets are put down each year in American public and private shelters for a wide variety of reasons, but most of those animals, it says, are adoptable.
It doesn't have to be that way. Together, we can provide our 'best friends' a strong, powerful voice to help make Houston, Harris and surrounding counties more humane. Together, like other cities across Texas, we can work toward becoming a no-kill community and finding homes for each and every adoptable dog and cat. The methods are simple: support those agencies whose mission is to prevent animal suffering, be a responsible pet owner (spay and neuter at the top of the list!), strengthen laws against abusers, roadside vendors and backyard breeders and then enforce those laws. It's not just about public safety and public health. It's about doing the right thing for the animals abandoned in an empty house, dumped by the side of the road or chained to a car bumper. They've done nothing wrong. We have. It's time for us to get it right.
