The Asian New Year begins….it’s the Year of the Snake. The Jade Buddha Temple in Alief welcomed members and well-wishers with a celebration in the Grand Hall.

Festivities in our Houston Asian Communities will run for 15 days, culminating with the Lantern Festival.

It is a time to gather families, to show gratitude for life and health, to feast and to wish each other good things in the coming year.

This Year of the Snake is supposed to usher in some greater prosperity, according to Chinese astrology.

Gifts of money in red packets helps to start that flow of good things.
