Just in time for our warm winter temperatures, Houston's B-cycle program is expanding, thanks to a large grant by BlueCross BlueShield of Texas (BCBSTX) to the city.
Right now, the bike rentals are available at City Hall, Market Square Park and the George R. Brown Convention Center. The $750,000 grant will help expand the program from 18 to 200 bicycles. Downtown will have 16 stations, along with four stations located at METRORail stations. B-cycle stations will also be in Midtown, Montrose and the Museum District.

Houston Bike Share, a nonprofit, manages and operates the Houston B-cycle program, which allows people to join as a member for a day, week or year. All members have unlimited access to the bikes. Bikes at the self-service B-cycle stations will be available from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily and can be returned to any B-cycle station.
All bikes come with a lock and a basket.
